Norwegian Cruise Line, along with its Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands, has cancelled all calls to Turkey for 2016 due to “recent events” in the country. An explosion near the Blue Mosque in early January killed 10 tourists and came just a few months after the terrorist bombings in the capital city of Ankara in October 10th killed over 100 people.
Travel specialists dealing with Turkey fear the attacks and the country’s shared border with Syria will make travelers even more skittish about visiting the country.
NCL cites the safety and security of passengers for the cancellation of calls and will continue to monitor the situation to make future itinerary adjustments as appropriate. The cruise line is in the process of informing guests booked on the affected cruises of the itinerary changes and will update the respective brand websites with revised voyage information.
Passengers needing further detail should contact their travel agent or NCL at 1 866 234-7350.
