Norwegian Cruise Line has reversed a policy banning passengers from taking food out of restaurants to their cabins or other parts of the ship. President Andy Stuart announced that the decision came in response to feedback from Norwegian passengers unhappy with the restriction.
Norwegian had said the ban was put in place to try and reduce the number of dirty dishes and trays left along passageways on cabin decks. It was speculated that cruisers were taking food from restaurants in response to the new $7.95 charge introduced for room service. Norwegian has said morning coffee and breakfast were exempt from the room service charge.
“Based on the feedback we received, it’s clear that this is an area many of our guests and travel partners see as important and therefore, we’re pleased to share that guests are welcome to enjoy their meals either in the restaurant or in their stateroom, as they always have,” Stuart said.
