Royal Caribbean International cancelled five more sailings of the fire-damaged Grandeur of the Seas and said the ship is expected to return to service on July 12. The company, which previously cancelled the May 31 cruise, also cancelled departures on June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28 and July 5. Guests booked on those departures will receive a full refund and a credit toward a future sailing worth 25 percent of the cruise fare paid.
“We are gratified that no one was hurt and that the safety and comfort systems performed exactly as designed,” said Adam Goldstein, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, who immediately flew to Freeport to meet with guests. “I extend my appreciation to our crew who performed so well, as well as to our guests who have been cooperative, understanding and highly complimentary of the shipboard team throughout.”
